How I Treat My Friends... and how I expect to be treated

How I Treat my Friends
The title should end with 'and how I expect to be treated', but guess what? People don't give the same care that you give them. That's just how it is. Mind you, your close friends will care as much as you do but that's the exception. You should always care as much as possible; ask how everyone is on a regular basis, connect with people; But shouldn't you receive that same gesture?
You choose your friends, and if they decide to never ask how you are, cut them out. If you seem to care about them and you ask how they're doing but you feel bothersome, cut them out. If you feel hurt that you haven't gotten a coffee together and caught up in a little bit, even if it's just a quick text (because it's not a great effort to text when you're already on your phone), then cut them out. (Also, to keep in mind that you also have to put forth some effort.) It's okay to distance yourselves and grow apart, that's fine, but check up on each other once and while; it could make all the difference.
Love,
A Past You
